Korak Sarkar, MD, MHDS, FAAN, specializes in headache medicine at Ochsner Health. Dr. Korak Sarkar completed his undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins University where he studied applied mathematics, biomedical engineering and neurosciences. He earned a doctor of medicine degree from the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Sarkar completed a neurology residency at the University of California at Davis in Sacramento, California. Following residency, he completed a brain injury medicine fellowship at Northwestern University and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) in Illinois. Dr. Sarkar is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as in brain injury medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties. He joined the Ochsner Neuroscience Institute in 2015. His research on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) has been published in peer-reviewed journals and awarded the American Academy of Neurology's (AAN) Founders Award in Translational Research. He also serves on the AAN's Health Policy subcommittee where he advocates for the needs of neurological patients and providers. He founded and currently serves as the Clinical Director of Ochsner's BioDesign Lab and contributes to Ochsners efforts to integrate innovative tools like 3D Printing and Medical Extended Reality into healthcare delivery.
