Dr. Salima Qamruddin completed medical school at the Aga Khan University in Pakistan, followed by an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York. She then completed an echocardiography and cardiovascular disease fellowship at University of Southern California in Los Angeles, followed by an advanced echocardiography fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Qamruddin is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and National Board of Echocardiography, with certification in Cardiovascular Disease. She is an active member of American Society of Echocardiography(ASE), and American College of Cardiology (ACC), and currently serves as a rising star on the industry and research committee at ASE. Dr. Qamruddin serves as the director of echocardiography quality and research, and director of Women's Cardiovascular Wellness Clinic at Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute and is a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland. She has numerous publications in the field of cardiac ultrasound that focuses on heart valve disease that afflicts predominantly women and new technologies that improve diagnostic ultrasound. She is recipient of several research grants that support this work. Her work in women's cardiovascular wellness revolves around raising awareness through media and lectures and utilizing novel technologies to prevent heart disease prevention in women of all ages with special focus on heart attacks in women, preeclampsia, breast cancer survivors and menopause.
