Dr. Sidharth Puri is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of diseases affecting the retina and vitreous. Dr. Puri was born and raised in New Orleans. He completed his undergraduate education at Cornell University and went on to attend medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He then completed his medical internship at the Florida Atlantic University. His residency was completed at the University of Louisville where he served as Chief Resident and developed vision screenings for refugee populations. Following residency, Dr. Puri completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the University of California Irvine. Dr. Puris clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membranes, and inherited retinal diseases. He is involved in national advocacy, medical education and improving access to healthcare and public health initiatives. His research interests include improving ocular therapeutics and novel surgical techniques for the treatment of inherited retinal diseases. He is the principal investigator on several ongoing research studies at Ochsner. He has presented several research projects at national conferences, such as at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and has authored publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Puri and his wife live in New Orleans and enjoy traveling, cooking, photography, painting and hiking. They have a young son and two dogs and enjoy spending time with friends and family.
