The Ochsner STAR Program provides qualified high school students (particularly those with limited means and access) a cost-free opportunity to explore the world of healthcare. Through a rigorous hands-on summer course focusing on science, technology, academics and research, STAR aims to engage and inspire students to pursue further education and careers in science and medicine.
STAR is a four-week summer program, held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It focuses primarily on scientific research, practical medicine and leadership development. The knowledge and skills that students acquire in this program will provide them with a solid foundation on which to build an advanced education and successful future in science, medicine and other aspects of healthcare.
