David Weiland, MD, specializes in pediatric cardiology at Ochsner Health. Dr. Weiland received undergraduate and medical training from the University of Mississippi. He completed pediatrics residency training at Vanderbilt University, and completed pediatric cardiology fellowship at Duke University. In addition, he completed an additional year of advanced training at Duke University for training in pediatric and congenital electrophysiology. Dr. Weiland's clinical focus is caring for infants, children, and young adults with heart rhythm disorders. This involves evaluating and diagnosing abnormal heart rhythms and treating them when needed. Treatments may involve using medications to improve the condition, or potentially involve a minimally invasive procedure to eliminate the problem. In addition to this, he also is passionate about caring for individuals with inherited cardiac rhythm disorders. Dr. Weiland specializes in caring for individuals who have these conditions, and working with families to determine if other family members may also be affected. Dr. Weiland is an active member in the Heart Rhythm Society and the Pediatric and Adult Congenital Electrophysiology Society. These are academic societies dedicated to improving the care of patients with heart rhythm disorders and using the latest research to ensure best practices available are utilized. Outside of work, Dr. Weiland spends time with his wife and two children taking in all the area has to offer. They enjoy days out at the park, playing baseball and soccer, visiting local museums and attractions and, of course, watching the Saints play!
