M. Tyson Garon, MD, specializes in orthopedic hand surgery at Ochsner Health with a particular interest in microvascular surgery and disorders of the hand and wrist. Dr. Garon offers comprehensive care for common hand injuries and conditions such as arthritis, cysts, tumors, ligament injuries, overuse conditions, fractures, trigger finger, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) and De Quervain's disease.

Dr. Garon graduated Magna Cum Laude from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a bachelor of science degree in biological sciences. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. During his residency, Dr. Garon was a three-time recipient of the Orthopaedic In-Training Examination (OITE) High Score Award. He also received the James Albright Research Award, the Award for Outstanding Resident, and the International Pediatric Orthopaedic Symposium Scholarship. He was also selected to attend the American Orthopaedic Associated Leadership Forum.

Dr. Garon completed a fellowship in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at The Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is board-certified in orthopedic hand and microvascular surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has been actively involved in research resulting in multiple publications, including journal articles, reviews, and book chapters. Dr. Garon is a member of the American Association for Hand Surgery, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Louisiana Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Garon is dedicated to addressing the medical needs of his patients while understanding individual concerns and goals. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, windsurfing, waterskiing, fly fishing, traveling and soccer.
